Winning Parish Metrics for Mission

In parish life, we often rely on "Mass counts and money" as our only indicators of health. But a full parking lot doesn't always mean a vibrant mission. How do you know if your evangelization efforts are working? How do you measure if parishioners are actually growing in their relationship with Christ?

This course teaches you how to identify the "Winning Metrics" that truly matter. We provide a framework for data-driven discernment—allowing you to see where your parish is thriving, where it’s stalling, and exactly where to invest your limited time and resources for the greatest spiritual return.

This course is an online, self-paced course including the following modules:
  • Module 0 – Course Introduction and Orientation
  • Module 1 – The “Story” of Metrics
  • Module 2 – Defining Winning Metrics
  • Module 3 – Designing Winning Metrics for the Church: Parish, Diocese & School
  • Module 4 – Ethical, Theological & Pastoral Considerations of Winning Metric Data
  • Module 5 – Winning Metric Data Analysis & Decision-Making with Dashboards & Scorecards

What you will be able to do:

  • Identify "Fruitful" Data: Move beyond "attendance" to track "engagement"—identifying the real signs of missionary discipleship in your community.

  • Master the Parish Dashboard: Learn how to visualize your parish data so you can spot trends and "early warning signs" before they become problems.

  • Make Discerned Decisions: Use hard data to back up your pastoral intuition, making it easier to explain "why" you are changing or cutting programs to your councils.

  • Measure What Matters: Create custom metrics for specific ministries, from Youth Group retention to conversion rates.

"Knowing what works and what doesn't--by the numbers--gives priests more confidence in making pastoral decisions for the good of the flock entrusted to their care."

Fr. Anthony Stoeppel - Vicar General, Pastor, School President & Seminary Vice-Rector
